Dear INSERT NAME,
The last days of 2023 are ticking away as we approach the end of another eventful year.
The beginning of each year is, in essence, a book with blank pages and the story is written over the course of the year. We can safely say that we can look back on 2023 as a fantastic educational year. On average, Education by Breas published three new pieces of content per month, ranging from webinars, our “how-to” guides and reviews of various topics relating to ventilation and airway clearance.
This year has also seen a return of more face-to-face educational events by Breas. In London, we recently hosted a paediatric long-term ventilation network meeting for 160 clinicians from the UK and around Europe. In the Nordics, there were also two practical workshops on MI-E and ventilation. Both meetings were excellent opportunities for clinical networking and sharing best practice, so we plan to add more of these into the mix in 2024. Be sure to keep an eye out for any new Education by Breas events on the website.
In recent months, there have been numerous international conferences in which we have actively participated and promoted what we at Breas are striving for. Our mission (with expert clinical guidance) is to improve the quality of life and care of respiratory patients around the world through a personal commitment to innovation, quality, and customer focus.
As an example of this customer focus, we want to highlight our cloud connectivity platform, “EveryWare”, a dynamic solution that is constantly refined to make workflows easier for clinicians. Some of the key EveryWare updates from this year are highlighted below:
- The Application Protocol Interface (API) was released, which aims to reduce data entry duplication and improve HCP/DME efficiency in various countries where Breas operate.
- We also made it possible to remotely change the settings and alarms of the Vivo 1, 2, 3, 45 and Nippy 4 ventilators, which can hopefully reduce unneeded patient and clinician travel and the associated carbon footprint that goes with this.
- On top of that, we made it possible to allow external users outside of an organisation to access the platform whilst remaining under the full control of each EveryWare account's administrator.
For Breas, EveryWare is a story that will always be developing, as these blank pages are filled every day by closely listening to what our users want. We see that telemonitoring generally has gained a lot of momentum, but there still seems to be further clarity required in how it will be used to its greatest effect. As such, we are always ready to listen to your innovative ideas to develop this platform further.
We'd like to thank you all for your trust in us this past year and for attending our events. Finally, of course, we wish you and your loved ones a relaxing festive period and, above all, a happy and healthy 2024.
Best Regards,
The Education by Breas Team |

Quality of life is different for everyone. For some of us, it's in the simple things; for others, it's simply being able to speak. How do you optimize communication with someone who has a tracheostomy and is on a ventilator?

There have been turbulent months this year in relation to the supply of mechanical insufflation-exufflation (MI-E) devices, and the demand for them is rising more and more. In the past, MI-E devices were typically used to increase cough efficacy in patients with neuromuscular disorders, but they are increasingly being used in weaker patients in the acute care setting.
